 Blogging for Your Business

If I had the time, I could probably write a book on “Why Your Business Needs a Blog.” There are so many benefits to blogging such as fueling your SEO to rank higher on the search engines and portraying your brand as the industry leader. Businesses who don't have a blog are missing out on a plethora of opportunity.

What is a blog?

A blog is a website or part of a website that features articles in reverse chronological order. Your blogs are listed with the most recent story first. There are more than 150 million blogs in the world, and with today’s tech-savvy essence, this number is just going to get bigger.

For a blog to be successful it must offer valuable and relevant content to a specific target audience. Although I aim my blogs toward small business owners and entrepreneurs that are interested in social media and facebook advertising, I also extend my knowledge to all facets of digital marketing.

This should apply to your blog too. If you’re going to start a blog you have to gear your writing towards a specific industry and your target audience. You've got to write about content that actually matters to them. This is why some companies fail at blogs. They write about irrelevant things that have nothing to do with their expertise or they update it infrequently.

5 Reasons Your Business Needs a Blog:

1. Blogging starts the conversation with your customer.

Although Twitter and Facebook are great tools to start the conversation, they often lead to quick & short-form messages. Yes, quick & easy information is very important, but a blog is an easy way to really get into the conversation and provoke thought with your customers. Blogging for business allows you to show your customer who you really are as a brand.

Sure your customers can click on your “about” section and read a brief bio or short-story about the company, and those sources are extremely important to take advantage of. But, a business blog can serve as a channel for sharing best practices, ideas, tips, and stories that really show how amazing your brand or business really is.

2. Blogging puts your business above the competition.

As a company, you want to be seen as the best. You want people to think of you as the industry-leader. The great thing about blogging is that while you are creating great content for them to read, you are also offering tips & advice which will help build trust and credibility between you and your customers.

Blogging about your product and brand gives consumers a “go- to” to get information and sets you ahead of the competition.

3. Blogging will increase your website traffic.

The most important benefit about blogging is the fact that it can help you to attract customers back to your website.  Each new blog article that I distribute almost triples my website traffic.

After each blog I write I go crazy sharing it on all social media platforms including Pinterest, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Of course you need to be creative when sharing the blog on these social media sites and tell your readers WHY they should click on your link. (That should be the easy part if you're sharing relevant and useful information.)

Quick tip when blogging: use hyperlinks within your blogs to increase your SEO and help Google rank your site faster. <---this is a hyperlink.

Social media is a great way to distribute your blogs and get your content seen.  And added bonus: If it’s valuable, relevant content (like it’s supposed to be) then people will share it and maximize your exposure.

4. Blogging fuels your search engine optimization.

Speaking of Search Engine Optimization, blogs that are updated regularly are seen by Google and other Search Engines and help your website climb the rankings. You see, once you post a blog it’s there forever.

Someone could search your keywords months, or even years later, and your blog will still be there to pop up in the search engine results. And hello, the more people that visit your website, the higher your chances are to converting them into sales-buying customers!

5.Blogging can attracts new clients.

In the same manner, don’t forget about the marketing advantages of blogging. Many businesses chalk up a large percentage of their revenue from blogging and blogging-related activities, and you can have a piece of that pie.

Show off your product through blogs (skip the sales pitch) and educate your customer on what you offer and explain to them why they NEED your services.

Expand your brand through a blog strategy

Blogging can be an easy way to expand your brand, target your audience, increase your website traffic, and add customers.
